Core Requirement 2.8
The number of full-time faculty members is adequate to support the
mission of the institution. The institution has adequate faculty
resources to ensure the quality and integrity of its academic programs.
In addition, upon application for candidacy, an applicant institution
demonstrates that it meets the comprehensive standard for faculty
qualifications.

LSUA had 104 full-time faculty members in Fall 2004. Full-time
faculty taught 79.4% of the credit class sections taught that semester
(412 sections of a total of 519 [1]
). The normal teaching load for full-time tenured or tenure-track
instructors is 12 hours. Overloads are assigned only when a
faculty member volunteers for the overload.
The university is adequately staffed to teach the class schedule
offered and to discharge other professional and university service
functions on the campus. Faculty participate in the shared governance
of the campus as members of a variety of Faculty Senate [2] and Administrative committees [3] . All full-time faculty serve as academic advisors to students.
Additional faculty will be needed to enable LSUA to continue to
expand and support bachelor's degree programs. Planning is underway to
hire additional faculty for the 2006-2007 academic year. New
positions include, but are not limited to, positions in Business
Administration (endowed chair), Pharmaceutical Marketing, and
Psychology.
Specific faculty teaching assignments and credentials are discussed in Comprehensive Standard 3.7.1.
