Core Requirement 2.12
The institution has developed an acceptable Quality Enhancement Plan and demonstrates the plan is part of an ongoing planning and evaluation process.

Compliant

LSUA developed a Quality Enhancement Plan in preparation for its Reaffirmation Visit in Fall 2004 [1] View 1: Quality Enhancement Plan.  The plan is entitled LSUA Today:  Curricula for the Educated Student.  The plan deals with curriculum development and reform in LSUA's baccalaureate degree programs.  LSUA's QEP was reviewed by the  On-Site Committee during LSUA's reaffirmation visit in September 2004 and was judged acceptable.  No revisions to the plan were required. [2] View 2: Reaffirmation On-Site Committee Report

Implementation of the plan is well underway.  For example, the General Education Assessment Committee has developed new competencies in general education (which were presented to the Courses & Curriculum Committee in August 2005) [3] View 3: General Education Outcomes Proposed and has proposed a new process to review courses to determine whether to list those courses as part of general education [4] View 4: General Education Course Checklist.  By way of further example, the Honors Program Committee met throughout the summer to revise a draft proposal for an Honors Program [5] View 5: Honors Program Draft Proposal.  The proposal was sent to the Leadership Team and Courses & Curricula Committee in Fall 2005.

As implementation of the QEP progresses, minor changes to the plan are also occurring.  The timeline has been modified [6] View 6: Quality Enhancement Plan Revised Timeline.  There has also been much discussion and minor revision of the definition of an educated person that serves as sort of a guiding principle of the plan [7] View 7: Educated Person Definition Revised.

The fundamental goal of LSUA's QEP is to improve student learning in general education and in LSUA's relatively-new baccalaureate programs.  Prior to implementation of the QEP, all degree programs as well as general education had established student learning outcomes, which are listed in LSUA's Strategic Plan [8] View 8: LSUA Strategic Plan 2004 - 2006. All learning outcomes at LSUA are assessed as part of the institution's ongoing institutional effectiveness process [9] View 9: Annual Assessment Forms 2004-2005.  Implementation of the QEP is expected to result in changes in student learning outcomes and their associated assessment methodologies.  These changes will be integrated into the university's institutional effectiveness process.
