Comprehensive Standard 3.2.1
The governing board of the institution is responsible for the selection and the evaluation of the chief executive officer.

According to the Bylaws & Regulations of the LSU Board of Supervisors (Article 7, Section 4) [1] ,
the Chancellor is appointed by the Board upon the recommendation of the
President and serves at the pleasure of the Board.
The President of the
LSU System, acting for the Board, conducts periodic evaluations of the
Chancellor. Typically
there is an informal evaluation each year, while the third year
involves a more in-depth evaluation [2]
[3] with focus groups (including faculty, staff, students and community
leaders) providing the President with input on the effectiveness and
leadership of the Chancellor.
