Members of the governing board can be dismissed only for cause and by due process.

Members of the LSU Board of Supervisors may be removed from office
only for cause and by due process as Public Officials of the State of
Louisiana. The Louisiana Constitution of 1974 (Article X: Public
Officials and Employees, Part I, Section 2) [1]
establishes members of state boards as unclassified civil servants.
Impeachment of elected and appointed officials is addressed in that
same Article of the Constitution (Part III, Section 24) [2] . State officials may be impeached only for malfeasance or gross misconduct while in office.
