Louisiana State University at Alexandria has defined and published
policies for appointment and employment of faculty and staff. There are
three general categories of employees at LSUA - faculty, classified
staff, and unclassified/professional staff. Classified staff are those
that hold positions that fall within the provisions of the Louisiana
Department of Civil Service. Unclassified/professional staff and
faculty are not subject to Civil Service hiring or employment policies
and are most often hired after regional or national searches. There are
a large number of policies in place that govern both hiring and
employment conditions of university employees. The Bylaws and Regulations of the LSU Board of Supervisors
describe general system-wide policies for appointment and employment
including appointment, promotion and tenure (Chapter II) [1]
, leave (Chapter III) [2]
, insurance and retirement (Chapter IV) [3]
and how institutions may adjust staffing in case of financial exigency (Chapter V, Section 13) [4]
.
