The mission statement for Louiisiana State University at Alexandria is as follows: [1]

The department of Continuing Education’s purpose [2] is to extend the campus to the community by offering continuing education, workforce training, conferences, workshops, and youth programming. This department is the primary advocate for lifelong learning and students who are pursuing continuing education for personal or professional enrichment. Louisiana State University at Alexandria’s Policy Statement 201 [3] and Institutional Goals [4] document the university’s commitment to providing this type of programming.

The department of Continuing Education reports to the Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs and develops a regular schedule of programming. Program coordinators develop, promote and implement programming in the following areas: youth programming, workforce and corporate training, professional development, leisure and personal enrichment, technology and computers, and test/exam/certification preparation. Free Forums are also offered to the community. These free programs are taught by faculty, staff, and community instructors and are underwritten by a local community sponsor.
