Comprehensive Standard 3.7.2
The institution regularly evaluates the effectiveness of each faculty
member in accord with published criteria, regardless of contractual or
tenured status.

LSUA conducts annual evaluations of all full-time [1] [2] and part-time faculty [3] .
These evaluations are based on the professional expectations of faculty
outlined in Policy Statement 202 (Selection, Promotion, Tenure, and
Annual Review and Termination of Faculty) [4] and Policy Statement 233 (Part-time Faculty) [5] . The overall administrative evaluation is partially based on the results from Student Evaluations of Instruction [6] administered in each credit class. Samples of the evaluation instruments are published in the Faculty Handbook [7] .
The criteria against which faculty are evaluated are published in the Faculty Handbook [7]
and are clearly delineated in the administrative evaluation
instruments. For full-time faculty, these criteria include the
following categories and percent of overall weight for each category:
Instructional Ability - 60%, Participation in Departmental, College,
and University Activities - 15%, Community Service - 5%, Scholarly and
Research Activity - 20%. Each of the categories also has several
subcategories that contribute to the overall ranking. The percentages
reflect the composition of faculty workloads as described in Policy
Statement 238 [8] .
Department chairs utilize data from a variety of sources to complete
the annual evaluations. Such data sources include the Annual Faculty
Plan [9] (including the End of Year Evaluation of Accomplishments) and Student Evaluations of Instruction [6] .
The faculty member is responsible for including pertinent information
in his/her Faculty Plan and End of Year Evaluation of Accomplishments
to enable the department chair to conduct a fair and representative
assessment. Department chairs may also include classroom observations
and peer evaluations [10] conducted as
part of reappointment and/or promotion/tenure reviews in their overall
administrative evaluation of a faculty member.
Part-time faculty are evaluated primarily against teaching criteria
that are clearly delineated in the part-time faculty evaluation
instrument [3] . As with full-time faculty evaluations, department chairs use the Student Evaluations of Instruction [6] , along with other information, including classroom observations, in making their judgements.
