The institution maintains financial control over externally funded or sponsored research and programs.

LSUA’s Accounting Services and Bursar Operations provides guidance to
the university community through assistance in post-award
administration [1] of grants and contracts
after an award is fully executed. Assistance is provided for tentative
account numbers, direct costs, facilities and administrative costs,
budget revisions, cost transfers, invoicing deadlines, and the
close-out of sponsored agreements.
The university uses the General Ledger System (GLS) owned by
Louisiana State University and Agricultural and Mechanical College (LSU
A&M). The GLS is the core system to the integrated Financial
Accounting System of LSU A&M. Each sponsored agreement has an
individual account established on the GLS. From Accounting Services and
Bursar Operations, project directors receive monthly ledgers that show
all transactions for their account. Any externally funded grants and
contracts are subject to the same accounting and purchasing controls as
are state-appropriated funds of the university.
